Monogamy and Music contains a series of observations of mine as I have travelled around. Some are very personal, Terrible Twos for example examines the tantrums of my daughter and my grandchildren.
There is also an account of my attendance at a Lil Wayne concert where I was mindlessly attacked. Called Elder Abuse at a Lil Wayne Concert, it looks at the possible motivations for young people to want to hurt older people.
The book is also educational! Did you know, for example, that there is a street in Merida, Spain, called Calle John Lennon! There is a very interesting story behind this, and I tell you all about it!
You can also learn all about the ability that some people have to be in two places at the same time, really! It’s called bilocation and my book proves that it really exists!
There are some very personal reflections too, like about when I used to have a very special, some may say strange, hobby, trainspotting (nothing to do with the movie of the same name). If you don’t know what this is, you can read all about it and capture the essence of days gone by, when pleasures were a little more simple than now.
The title story, Monogamy and Music, is a reflection on our changes of priorities as we get older. We don’t all fall into that trap, but too many of us do in my opinion.
I think that you will enjoy this book, especially if you have a short attention span, as most of the pieces are less than 500 words. It’s the kind of book that you can leave in your bathroom and pick up every morning at 7am! 🙂
